Behind The Board – Another Look Into BNK’s Past (Originally Posted 05/21/2012)

While nested at the Rack ‘N’ Roll Cafe for a few years, one of the greatest things we  were involved in was working with young musicians attending one of a bunch of schools that would use our stage for their performances. For example,  The Westchester School of Rock . It was so fun to see these kids get up and perform full shows. Some would be nervous, some seemed born to perform. A good number of them were already advanced musicians ready to take off or beginning a performance career. Although it was fun, it was also a great taste of patience. There were no constants for the techs. After each song, all the musicians and instruments would change. Every song had a different singer. One would be really quiet, the next would be full throttle! Stage monitors would be set to all out feeding back everywhere! I often found it to be more work to do these shows than any large national act with 3 openers. But! Every part of it was so enjoyable.

This is Vince singing and playing the lead on Freebird 2 years ago. Vince was quickly becoming a capable guitarist. Keep an eye out for him.
If your child is looking to play an instrument, we  highly recommend a School of Rock or a school of a similar format. It develops a team atmosphere, as well as teaching them to play and perform in front of an audience.
